7th axis for Universal Robots
Our 7th axis can be used in an individual and flexible way. It extends
the range of action of Universal Robots by up to 6,000mm (according to
technical design) and makes them much more flexible.
The drylin® ZLW-20200 toothed belt axis is ideal as a wide low-profile
linear axis. An adapter kit is available for this axis for direct connection with Universal Robots in the URCap. The ZLW-20200
toothed belt axis can be delivered as a ready-to-connect solution with the matching
adapter kit. Alternatively, the adapter kit can be supplied separately. The linear axis is
suitable for applications with a precision requirement of 0.3mm and a load of up to 55kg. This type of accessory has a max. speed of up to 0.3m/s. The suitable software is integrated into the URCap and can be
controlled via the Universal Robot software. The axis can be
ordered with or without a control system. To control the axis in the URCap,
the DLE-UR-0001 control system is required. Our 7th axis consists largely of our tribologically optimised plastics and helps reduce costs significantly. This is combined with a long service life and freedom from maintenance.

Application examples
Typical applications of our 7th axes are pick & place
applications, welding applications and many more.
7th axis control system for an easy introduction to automation
The UR unit allows for simple and intuitive robot control and
programming, making it easy to get started with automation.
Direct switch cabinet integration with URCap results in an easy and ready-to-
connect solution. This allows the 7th axis to be moved in the URCap software within a very short time. Currently, solutions are possible with the
following Universal Robots kinematics: UR3, UR5, UR10, UR16 and the e-series.
A master control system is not necessary.
You can of course also use your own (robot) control
system.
Alternatively, it is also possible to operate each axis individually with a control
system. For example, with our igus® D1 dryve motor control system. With this control architecture, you need per
linear axis or motor and an additional master control system, which controls the coordination of the movement.
The motor control systems are not part of the product and can be ordered
from us as an option. igus does not offer a master control system at the moment.
