The clean flat ribbon cable e-skin flat is a flat cable guidance system made of high-performance plastic that shows no visible wear and tear and is abrasion-resistant. The cable guides for automation systems and robots in display and semiconductor manufacturing and in the production of LCD/LED panels must meet special requirements for freedom from particles.

This is because any contamination with particles as small as 0.0001mm has a damaging effect on the product and the process. In contrast to customary solutions available on the market with firmly defined ribbon cables, where stranding elements are firmly fused, the e-skin flat ribbon cable offers chamber systems that can be opened. In just a few minutes, flexible stranding elements -with or without connectors-, e-skin® flat with support chains, hoses, etc., can be exchanged or added.

Volume Pattern Generator (VPG) systems

The flat ribbon cable e-skin® flat convinced Heidelberg Instruments and is used in "Volume Pattern Generator" (VPG) systems. This compact system allows very low bend radius and is resistant to wear and abrasion during movement, meaning it can be used in cleanrooms - even in multiple layers - as confirmed by tests carried out by Fraunhofer IPA.

We currently recommend up to 6 layers on top of each other. However, the mounting bracket that holds the layers together should not be higher than the width.

How long can the ribbon cable be routed?
