Maintenance-free bearings and guide rails in flexible seat shells from MK Medizintechnik GmbH

MK Medizintechnik GmbH manufactures customised medical products, including seating and reclining systems, hand lever wheelchairs, ramps and special products for people with mobility impairments.

This also includes the MK Dynamic seat shell, a modular seat and back unit whose elements can be individually adjusted and controlled via dampening systems. These include the back dynamics, the knee pivot point and the foot plates, each of which must be customised to the user's needs.

However, intensive and long-term use regularly leads to signs of wear on the moving components, which can impair the handling and structural stability of the seat shell. Daily use of the seat shell and environmental influences in daily use lead to a constant mechanical load on the bearing points. The intensive use places high demands on the quality of the materials, which must be maintenance-free and function reliably over the long term.

In order to meet the high mechanical loads and the requirements for freedom from maintenance, MK Medizintechnik GmbH relies on iglidur plain and slewing ring bearings as well as drylin linear bearing technology in the central movement areas of the seat shell.

In the backrest area, our drylin W guide rail and
WJ200UM-01-06 housing bearings ensure stable and even guidance. These components are designed for pressure loads of approx. 400-600 Nm and enable a controlled motion sequence with a high load capacity.

One of our large PRT-04 slewing ring bearings is used at the knee pivot point. The slewing ring allows precise movement control and supports the dynamic adjustment of the seat shell in the knee area.

In the lower leg area, drylin W double rails and iglidur J4 plain bearingsare used,
supplemented by a gas tension spring. This combination equalises leg length differences during knee extension and diverts any resulting pressure peaks downwards.
