Fast charging for the first all-electric tugboat in the USA

e-dispenser ensures an uninterrupted power supply and short charging times at the port

The ShorePower dispenser charges Crowley’s eWolf tugboat at the port with 1MW DC.

Profile

  • What was needed: Cable and connector system for the shore power supply of the electric tug for charging the batteries
  • Requirements: Design for a megawatt DC charging system, flexible (tidal amplitude) and space-saving (no obstruction of work on the quay), durable cables with tight bend radii, uninterruptible power supply, connection and disconnection as quick and uncomplicated as possible
  • Industry: Shore power supply
  • Success for the customer: With the e-dispenser, Crowley has received a customised shore power solution that ensures a reliable, uninterrupted power supply for the eWolf. The smooth pushing in and pulling out of the cable enables a quick connection and disconnection process. In conjunction with the megawatt charging system, charging times can be minimised and the tug's operating times on the water maximised.
